What does a Junior Risk Advisor do?

As a Junior Risk Advisor within our Business Risk Services practice, you will support clients with a broad and impactful set of responsibilities:

  • Becoming a trusted advisor: Clients count on you for clear, well-founded answers to their most challenging questions about internal processes and governance.

  • Improving end-to-end processes: You analyse and optimise financial, operational, HR, and technology-enabled processes to help organisations operate more efficiently and effectively.

  • Strengthening risk management: You contribute to internal audit assignments, internal control assessments, GDPR compliance work, IT audit support and broader risk-management projects.

  • Delivering actionable insights: Under the guidance of an experienced manager, you assess client needs, document and map processes, perform detailed testing, and translate findings into practical recommendations. Your mission: drive operational excellence.

  • Working across sectors and borders: You collaborate with diverse organisations active in a wide range of industries—often in an international context—making your work both varied and intellectually stimulating.

  • Building strong client relationships: From day one, you are in direct contact with clients and frequently work on site, enabling you to build trust and credibility quickly.

Job requirements

What makes you the Junior Risk Advisor we’re looking for?

In our Business Risk Services team, you develop by doing—supported, coached and challenged along the way. To make an impact from the start, we look for a number of essential qualities and a solid foundation of skills:

  • A relevant academic background: You hold a Master’s degree in business administration or a closely related field, giving you the theoretical grounding to understand organisations and their internal workings.

  • Initial project exposure: Ideally, you already have some first experience—through internships, projects or student jobs—in areas such as process analysis, internal control, audit or risk management.

  • Affinity with technology and data: Experience with IT audits or data analysis is a strong asset. If you’re eager to learn these skills, we’ll help you develop them.

  • Strong analytical thinking: You quickly grasp complex situations and translate observations into solutions tailored to your clients’ operational and strategic needs.

  • Clear and confident communication: You express yourself fluently in Dutch, French and English, allowing you to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues across Grant Thornton.

  • Mobility and adaptability: You are flexible and willing to travel to our offices and client sites—an essential part of building trust and delivering hands-on support.

  • A proactive mindset: You take initiative, assume responsibility, and approach your work with structure and professionalism.
